To Watch: Gavin and Stacey, Season One
It turned out to be quite the coincidence that Chloe and I finished season one of Gavin and Stacey on Valentines Day. I mean, the season ended with Gavin and Stacey's wedding! How ironically timed on our part...
The whole story of the pair originally starting their interactions over the phone through a professional sense of work and then arranging to meet up face to face in London with a friend each then instantly falling in love was a bit of a given from the beginning. I mean, a marriage proposal was destined from those first few minutes where they were chatting over the phone in the office during that very first episode.
Lets move onto the relationship between Nessa and Smithy, shall we? To say they 'can't stand each other', they just can't seem to steer clear from one another! They never have anything to say to each other apart from "Hiya, you alright?" so how they keep hooking up is beyond me. The way Smithy's relationship with his girlfriend, Lucy, is protrayed never fails to make me laugh. She only 17 which, compared to Smithy, is young but not as young as they make her seem with all of these school activities she always seems to be participating in.
Brin is such a chatty person, I don't think there's a person that he can't talk to! Apart from Stacey's brother Jason. Is there anyone who knows what happened between Brin and Jason on that fishing trip all those years ago?! Chloe and I just can't figure it out and the fuss they make about it doesn't give any proper explanation as to what did actually happen!
Pam and Mick are your typical middle aged couple. You know, the wife who doesn't know how to tone it down, when to shut up and stop being so over dramatic and the husband who just humours the wife to keep the peace and save the hassle. They remind me of my nan and grandad in a way...
Gavin and Stacey is an easy watch with some light humour so Chloe and I will be continuing with season two. On another note, I am aware that Valentines Day was almost a week ago now so I do apologise for such a late write up on season one - I've been so busy, what with doing so many extra shifts this week! I'm sorry!
Charlotte.
