Best Bits: September 2018
I couldn't believe how quickly September came around, and again at how quickly it has passed. It'll sooner be that time of year where the 'C' word is mentioned left, right and centre and we'll be starting our shopping for the day itself soon enough. September has been a mixture of both lazy and productive. I've had my fair share of lazy evenings or lazy morning throughout the month which have been matched with very productive days.
Weddings. September is starting to seem like a good month for weddings. James and I joined the celebration of two of his friends tied the knot. My mum and stepdad also celebrated their anniversary on the same day. For James' friends wedding, we attended the church ceremony at the other end of the island (it's not as far as it seems - you can get from one end of Guernsey to the other within half an hour - 45 minutes) before heading to the Farmhouse (very popular venue for weddings in Guernsey) for the reception. It was a lovely celebration.
America blogging. It's about time that I finally started sharing the posts from our time in Miami and New York. You can catch them all (so far) here. I've still got a few more to come but I'm getting there.
Pizza and pamper night. I know pizza on its own may not seem all that exciting. But when you get takeaway pizza from the BEST place in Guernsey, then you can't help but see this as a highlight. I had been craving that pizza for weeks so it really did hit the spot. I also had a little pamper session that evening as I had the place to myself while James was out with work. Pizza, facemask, exfoliate, moisturise, comfy clothes, and a movie - it was just what I needed.
Little shopping spree. With the wedding and our holiday approaching, James and I took a quick trip to town and searched the internet for an outfit each for the wedding and appropriate clothing for both Oktoberfest and Germany in autumn. We were pretty successful in both aspects really. I shared a haul post which, if you fancy, can read about here.
Steak nights. Sj joined James and I for dinner earlier this month and the three of us had steak and smiley faces. About a week later, a few of us from the climbing club headed off to The Rock Garden for steak followed by a movie in the private cinema in the same complex.
Catch up. Last weekend, I caught up with a friend from college who I haven't seen in about 3 years. It was definitely way overdue and was so lovely to see her again. We headed to the Douvres for pizza and chatted away for hours! This was actually my second meal at the Douvres that week - James and I joined his family there for celebratory dinner after the sale of their family home went through. One of James' friends also came to ours the evening before as we hadn't seen him for a few weeks. We ended up heading into town for a couple of drinks. Very low key - we just went to a pub before heading home and no clubs were involved (I haven't been to a club in two and a half years and even that was a rare occasion which won't happen again, at least for a very long time until that much alcohol is consumed).
Climbing. The indoor climbing season started again at the beginning of the month. It's nice having something to fill more of my evenings.
Germany. We finally flew off on our second holiday of the year to Germany. I've actually been pretty excited for this trip, although I was a little apprehensive about the language barrier and my lack of knowledge of the language. James knows nothing of the German language and I only remembered a couple of words and phrases from my few visits to Austria 6/7 years ago.
Charlotte.
