60 Things To Do In 2015: Go for a tennerfest
My Saturday evening was spent with Sj having a tennerfest at La Perla Restaurant. I don't often go for a tennerfest during the tennerfest season. The main reason this made it onto my list.
We were seated on the second floor, in the far corner near to the window. Being this far out on the floor meant we had to squeeze between two big tables FULL of people, who were pretty loud at times. If you know me well enough, you'll know that I'm not a fan of crowds/people, especially when they're being loud and obnoxious! In all honesty, they weren't too bad - of course, they had their moments but they were mostly bearable. Not long after we were seated, our drinks - a Pinot Griot for me and a Pimms for Soph - were soon served.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were actually only charging £10 for the three course meal when I opened up my menu. I know that sounds strange but normally Tennerfests charge anywhere between £12.50 and £17.50 for their set meal during tennerfest season. For starters, we both ordered the Leak and Potato Soup which very hot but lovely.
Next up, the main. This was the only meal we didn't order the same of. Sj got the Sweet and Sour Chicken Stir Fry with Rice. I was also tempted by this as it's pretty damn good but I've had it before as it's also on their normal menu. Instead, I had the Pasta with Diced Chicken Breast in a Mushroom Sauce. Although it was quite simple and creamy, I did enjoy it.
Last, but by no means least, was dessert. We both ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding as La Perla do amazing Sticky Toffee Puddings. Now, I love my food. I don't like leaving food left over at home or in a restaurant - it just seems like such a waste of perfectly good food and money! Unless the portions served are rediculously massive then don't be silly, I can't eat it all! I decided at the beginning of the evening that I wasn't going to let this meal defeat me. I can tell you now, I left very full but undefeated!
We then spent the next two and a half hours driving around the island with some cracking songs on full blare while we sang at the top of our lungs - hence my slightly sore throat right now - and did a bit of car dancing.
What I wore:
I went for the smart casual approach of baby blue and white theme with my outfit choice. La Perla is a pretty casual restaurant so you don't have to dress up all fancy. I don't often get to wear my blue and white patterned trousers now. I had originally bought them for work but found out that apparently patterned trousers are considered as casual in my job. My blue cardigan only really goes with a white top and blue or black trousers so I was quite pleased I actually got to wear this combo. I also paired it with some brown slip on shoes, my '18' necklace my gran gifted me for my birthday and a bracelet Tom kindly got for me.
Charlotte.
