Best Bits: March 2016

The month kicked off with a coffee catch up with Sj. I say coffee, we both had a hot chocolate - 'coffee catch up' just sounds better than 'hot chocolate catch up' though... It had been so long since we had seen one another and it was so lovely to see her again! We also went back to Coco Mint Braiserie later on this month for hot chocolate and gossip.

Chloe, Rosie and I watched How To Be Single at the cinema over the first weekend. As it is on my 'to watch' list, you can find my review here.

Chloe, Rosie, Sj and I all took part in the Odsidian Colour Run that had been organised by a bunch of school goers who took part in a Young Enterprise event. Chloe's brother was in charge of the photography for the event so you can check that out here and you can see my full post on the event here.

I went bowling with work during the middle of the month. We had spilt ourselves into two teams to make it a little more interesting. I, however, was on the losing team. Despite this, I'm pretty impressed with my personal score which had been totted up by the unintentionally scored strike on my very first bowl. This was later repeated on a second occasion along with a couple spares, some dancing and a rather long, very strange game of would you rather?

Early Easter dinner with Chloe and Rosie at Dix Neuf on the Thursday before Good Friday. We had intended on going to the Houmet but they were fully booked. Over the Christmas period, the Liberation Group gave out envelopes with vouchers inside that gave you either 20%, 50% or 100% off of your food bill. I had one which we used on our Tuesday lunch bill then my colleague had one which she wasn't going to be able to use in the time given to use it so gave it to us. Isn't she lovely. Both vouchers gave us 20% off.

Good Friday was spent at work in the morning (not exactly a 'best bit' but I'm thinking more payday), with my Jersey family at the park during the afternoon followed by dinner at Crabby Jacks with Josh. We had planned on going to the Rock Garden as neither of us had ever been before and had heard all good reviews but they were fully booked.

Easter Sunday. The tradition in my family is that most of the family who live in Jersey come over to Guernsey for Easter weekend, we go to the park on one day, town for shopping on another, and lunch at the Longfrie on Easter Sunday followed by an hour or two at my grans. We tend to follow this tradition pretty religiously. Every year, the Longfrie do an Easter Egg Hunt in the yard for the children and also do a raffle for each table to win an Easter Egg.

Easter Eggs. I say Easter Eggs, it was more just food in general over the week of Easter! So, much, food! The photo below is the reason why I don't allow myself into town during my lunch hour! In all honesty, half of the food was bought into work by my colleague for her birthday! Then everyone in the office was gifted some sort of Cadbury egg by one the brokers we deal with. The girls on the front desk of Cherry Godfrey, bless their hearts, even gave me a packet of mini chocolate eggs when I delivered them their post!

I may have gone a bit of a shopping spree in Jersey on Wednesday just gone during my lunch hour. During said shopping spree, I bought a hoodie, a cardigan and a jumper. The jumper was definitely the best value for money out of the three purchases. It was just what I was looking for! I got it from Topshop, original price tag was at £40 and I got it in the sale for a massive bargain of £5! Yes, that's right! £5! A total saving of £35! I just couldn't believe it! I had to check the price tag twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things and mistaking it for £15!

That's about it really for my highlights of the month. I hope you had a lovely Easter, tried not to eat much chocolate only to fail as miserably as I did, and I hope you enjoy the next coming month. Try not to be as harsh with your April Fools Day jokes tomorrow as I plan to be!

Charlotte.
