The Odsidian Colour Run

'Late post', I hear you question? Yeah... Sorry... But you know, well skip past that onto the point of this post. Last Sunday, my day began with participating in the Odsidian Colour Run with Chloe, Rosie and Josh (who took Sj's ticket at the very, very last minute).

The event was based at Pembroke Bay on the beach, along the common and along the trails. There were marshals around to make sure we didn't wonder off past the route.

When signing up, we were charged a £10 fee which included a white tee shirt (so the colour would show up nicely), one packet of non-toxic and non bio-degradable colour powder and race number. We were able to purchase extra packets of colour powder on arrival when we signed in.

On the morning of the event, I woke up to find out Sj was unable to join us and Rosie's boyfriend (who was one of my backup replacements) wouldn't wake up to take Sj's place. In a mad rush, I phoned up Josh at 9:20 am, also may have woken him up in the process, gave him 20 minutes to get up and ready before I began my pick up collection of him, Chloe and then Rosie. The next palaver was turning up at Rosie's boyfriends dads house, only to find that they were at his mums house.

By the time we eventually got to the beach, we were finally done with last minute, rushes. Or at least that's what we thought! But we'll come back to this later. We parked up and went to sign in, get our white tees, our colour powder and our race numbers. As it was freezing, we headed back to the car while we got ready and warmed up.

We headed down for the warm up ten minutes later. None of us thought the warm up did a lot of good but, despite this, we weren't aching the next day. Everyone moved down to the starting line and this is where things got messy. Colour was flying everywhere! It was all over the sand, on our clothes, in our hair, all over our faces! Rosie's described us all as looking like smurfs!

By the end of the race, the colour had mostly been blown off of us from the wind. We were almost tempted to drive my car onto the beach and have people throw colour at it like in the Toyata Aygo advert on the TV. Three guesses as to what car I drive! It was so much fun! The Odsidian Colour Run was the first one held here in Guernsey. I'm hoping they do another one next year.

Charlotte.

All photos but one were taken using Rosie's phone as mine died on me after one photo.
