Best bits: August '15

This month has been pretty incredible! August always seems to have a lot going on but in a good way. I must say, this has definitely been one of the more wetter Augusts we've had for a few years. Despite all of the happy happenings, we have had to say goodbye to my boss at my full time job who had his last day on the 28th, to Tasmin who leaves for University tomorrow, and to a colleague from my part time job who leaves in three days. Anyway, here are this month's best bits.

Jersey. Chloe, Rosie, Tasmin and I all went to Jersey half way through the month for the day. We spent the morning at Creepy Valley where we did Archery and went on the Zip Wire - both of which were such fun. The afternoon was spent shopping and at the cinema as the cinema in Jersey is much bigger and better than the one we have here in Guernsey. It was such a long but lovely day and was nice for the four of us to spend the entire day together properly, before Tasmin leaves us for university! We will miss you Tas!

Free house. My mum went on holiday at beginning of the month so I had the house to myself. Well, technically I did - I actually had Sj and Tom stay most of the week so I at least had some company. Tio (my cat) does make me chuckle. He has a habit of waltzing into the bathroom while you're in there and jumping into the bath. Near the beginning of the month, he was sniffing around by the tap so I decided to lightly run the water. He then suddenly just stuck his head under the water! I'm totally gutted that I didn't manage to get a photo or even a video of it but it definitely made me laugh! I did manage to get this photo below of him looking all smug for it after.

Celebrating Chloe's 18th birthday at the beginning of the month was brilliant! Finally, we're all 18 now! It was an amazing evening! We went for a lovely, but very filling, three course meal in town before heading back to Chloe's to watch TV and have a bit of a gossip. Because we were both so full and couldn't manage a whole dessert each, Tasmin and I shared milk and cookies (as shown in bottom left photo below) - aren't we cute!

Looking through old photos at the absolute beauties that we once were! Wow, there are some cracking shots! I'm a sucker for old photos though - it always put a smile on my face. For Chloe's birthday, I decided to put together a little DVD of all the photos of her and us that I could find. In total, the video came to 15 minutes and 15 seconds long and the four of us (me, Chloe, Tasmin and Rosie) had such a laugh watching it!

Tom and I had a pamper evening earlier this month. For the first one, we ordered some Thai food, stuck on High School Musical and we put on some face masks. Can I just point out that he was more than happy to participate, he even suggested the whole thing !

Food. I've had quite a few different lunch dates this month. Chloe started her new job half way through the month so I met her and Tasmin for lunch to celebrate her first week. I also met Jamie for lunch that same week which was nice. We hadn't seen each other for a few weeks because of his shifts and my lack of routine, exercise wise but we had a good catch up and a fantastic bitch to get everything off our chests. Sj and I went for lunch last week as the most convenient time for us both to meet is at lunchtime. Mel (from work) and I both have the same lunch so we had gotten into the habit of going out for lunch. I have also cooked a few rather healthy meals for myself, Tom and Sj throughout the month.

The North Show. Sj and I go to this every year and this year was no different - we just can't break our traditions! We only went in the evening on the second day of the show. On the Thursday, they do the Battle of Flowers which is where loads of people enter a float which they decorate with flowers (usually paper flowers) then parade it around the arena. In the evening, the floats are lite up ready for the flood lite parade which is closely followed by the fireworks. There are also loads of rides which charge the earth for a quick spin on each one, food stands, performances and massive tents full of loads of different exhibitions such as cakes, pumpkins, fruits/vegetables and even animals, all of which are judged based on a certain criteria for each exhibition.

I'm hoping the weather perk up a lot during September to make up for the lack of sun we've had. There are a few things that I would like to crack on with this year which are all weather dependent. I can't believe August is now over and we're about to start September. This year is going so quickly!

Charlotte.
