101 in 1001: Completely declutter the contents of my room andmakebetter use of the space

Back in June, I booked a long weekend off of work which ended up with me decluttering the contents of my room. I also had a couple of days off during the week earlier this month which was spent in the exact same way. And by God, it's been decluttered! One big black bag full of randoms I forgot about from years ago for the bin, one big black bag full of unprofitable clothes for the clothing banks and two small carrier bags full of clothes to sell. I aquired more stuff to go during my few days off the month as well.

Just to give you an idea of the time I spent on this, four hours of day one of mission declutter were spent climbing over all of the clothes, boxes, shoes and soft toys that I could physically fit on the floor and my bed. I think I even lost the cat beneath all of the clutter at one point! He was not amused when he woke up to find he had to be carried out of the room! So much so that he found a route to my wardrobe and protested in there for a good ten minutes or so.

Because I didn't get it all done on day one of mission declutter, my mission continued in pro day two. This time around was much shorter. I got the rest done in an hour and a half. Less than half Friday's time which, as you can imagine, I was most chuffed with. And then day three and day four of mission declutter were spent acquiring more things for the dumping like that I didn't know I had during the first two days of my mission back in June.

Although there doesn't appear to be much difference or less hoarding in my room, I got rid of a lot. Most of was hidden in my wardrobe, drawers or at the back of my shelves.

Despite wanting to make better use of what space I do have in my room, I didn't actually do much rearranging to accomplish this like I had planned to when I published 101 in 1001. Plus, when that post was written, I wasn't aware that I'd be moving out this month as well. So techinically, I guess you could say I did rearrange? I mean, none of possessions are where they were.

My decluttering also continued during the move as I found out that wouldn't be enough space for my things as well as Josh's things.

Seeing as Josh has some things he wishes to sell, we'l be putting aside an afternoon over a weekend soon to start selling things. Perhaps a car boot sale might be worth trying. I can't say I've ever done a car boot sale before though.
