One week until the finale of Pretty Little Liars!

If you've taken a look at my 'To Watch' list, you'll have seen that Pretty Little Liars is one of the TV shows that Chloe and I wanted to watch together. I wrote an end of season one post based on my thoughts of the first season.

Of course, if the show wasn't to my liking, we wouldn't be at this point in time where I'm about to ramble on about what I've made of the show so far. I shall share my thoughts on what I think could be in for the final ten episodes of the last ever season of what I consider to be a very gripping TV show ( I know I can vouch for Chloe and say that she too, was glued to the telly. More so than myself considering she finished a month or two before I did).

If you were hooked just like Chloe and I were and binge watched the entire seven seasons, you'll be just as hyped as we are at the fact the finale is due to air on Netflix from Easter 2017. Anyone else counting down the days?

*WARNING* If you're not up to date on the show then you might want to turn away now. Unless you want the basic plot lines ruined, then do stay a while. I feel like I should have some snacks at the ready for a good ol' gossip! Now, let's get started on all things PLL!

So now we know that Mona, Lukas, Shana, Noel, and what seems like half of Rosewood have had more than their fair share of playing puppets for A,  Mona being 'head puppet' for the most part. But, plot twist, Charlie/Charlotte Di Laurentis/Cece Drake actually turned out be the mastermind behind the whole A façade. We spent so many seasons thinking Mona was the real A only for this twist to arise!

Let us all recap on the Cece to Charlotte aspect of the show. The character started off as Cece Drake, a secret friend of Alison's that Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer knew nothing of until she appears in the coffee house basically quoting Ali almost word for word. Later, as the show went on, we found out that Cece's childhood wasn't quite what you'd expect from her so closely resembling Alison with such charm, character and confidence. We found out that she was institutionalised at a young age, but at that time, Cece was actually Charlie, who we were led to believe was once the oldest brother of Alison and Jason for a short while. Once the story of how Jason and Cece dated had been recapped, it was then explained how Charlie was never the birth child of Jessica and Kenneth Di Laurentis as they adopted him at birth from Jessica's identical twin sister, Mary Drake. More to come on the Mary Drake story lines later on in the post. While in Radley, Charlie knew very early on where he wanted to take his life, so transitioned, became Charlotte but shortened Charlotte to Cece so she could play a part in Alison's and Jason's lives without any suspicion of who she once was.

Side note: I caught up on all seven seasons released to date just a couple of days before the cast and crew wrapped up on the last ever day of filming and since then, I've read far too many articles based on PLL. I read one article that interviewed that actress who plays Charlotte who confirmed that her character is set to reappear in flashbacks, but never gave anything away when it came to one of the big questions; will Charlotte really be alive like Alison was all along?

And now on to Emily and Alison. If you remember, after the 5 year time jump, out of the 5 girls, Emily was the only one who was struggling with money. in an attempt to rake together some cash, she donated her eggs. Near the end of season 7A, Alison announced her surprise pregnancy to Emily. They were both just as shocked about the news. Alison was sure she and Elliott were careful. While it's likely they were careful, I've heard it's been confirmed that one of the eggs that Emily donated was inseminated in Alison while she was hospitalised. I'm still unsure as to whether Elliott is the father or if we're yet to find that out.

Next up, two confirmed marriages! So far, no names have been announced for the two marriages. My money would be on Hanna and Caleb for sure! I'm hoping that wedding number 2 will be for Aria and Ezra. I know they're not exactly a favourite couple but I absolutely love them! Of course, Toby and Yvonne or even Toby and Spencer could be in the running if it wasn't for the car crash that Toby and Yvonne were in right at the end of 7A, or the gun shot that Spencer suffered. Even Emily and Alison could be in with a chance, but personally I think they'll be too busy with baby to worry about a wedding just yet.

Moving onto Hannah and Caleb. Despite their break over the 5 year time hop where Hanna moved to New York and got engaged (which was soon ended not long after the girls got called back to Rosewood) and Caleb went travelling and hooked up with Spencer. Caleb and Spencer didn't last all too long either. Clearly Hanna and Caleb are just meant to be! Need I go on?

And last but by no means least, Ariaand Ezra. In one of the trailers for season 7B, a clip of the pair included Ezra telling Aria how she's done some things that can't be forgiven. I'm hoping and praying that after this comment, Ezra's going to turn to her and say that no matter what she's done, he can't help but love her anyway, that he has always loved her and that he always will love her. Throughout all 7 seasons, they have been the couple that have made the duration, granted they had their breaks but lets just remember that every couple has had their fair share of time apart. Although Nicole, Ezra's fiancé who was presumed dead on their travels , has now been found, I still think (and hope) that Ezra and Aria will make their way back to each other and have the wedding I want them to have.

Since everyone else has had their paragraph, and I did mention I'd come back to her, lets talk Spencer and Mary Drake. More specifically, that ending to 7B! Spencer getting shot, only for Mary to share that she is, in fact, Spencer's birth mother. Is anyone else just as utterly shocked as I am at this reveal?! This will mean that rather than being siblings, Ali and Jason will be Spencer's cousins. Unless, the part about Spencer's father having an affair is true. Because Jessica Di Laurentis and Mary Drake are twins, the Hastings must have assumed that Mary was Jessica seeing as Jessica never mentioned Mary until more recent episodes.

With the big question being 'who do you think 'A' is?' flying around, I'm never all too certain on my answer. You see, I think I'd have to shoot my guess at one of two possibilities. One being Charlotte, who came up with such a drastic plan to keep the mystery going. The plan being that the 'liars' wouldn't' suspect Charlotte after her body was seemingly thrown from the bell tower. At first, I thought that Charlotte had gone 'off the rails' when she found out that Alison was with her doctor, Elliott, so ran away to the church, making it look like she was murdered, and then went on the run just like Alison did for two years before she was found by her friends.

The next possibility that came to mind is that maybe the parents, or even just some of the parents, teamed up together as 'A' for whatever unbeknown reason; if it turned out that the parents were behind the A act, that would explain how 'A' knew so much about each of the girls, both as a group and individually. I mean, as parent you feel like you should be the one who knows more about your child than anyone else, and you don't like the idea that your child would feel the need to lie to you. This is what brings me to think the parents are behind the 'A' game, because they want to see how far their girls will go to lie to them, even about how much hurt they've experienced at the hands of their anonymous tipper.

However, my colleague then reminded that the parents were locked in the basement late in season 7A so didn't think that theory would work. When Chloe and I were discussing possibly AD candidates, we suggested that Mary Drake could have locked the parents in the basement as a bargaining chip to get into the AD group. Could work as we've recently learnt Mary's link to the girls so she may want to 'befriend' the other parents to get in the know about what the girls, or Spencer more specifically, get up to without the parents around.

On another note, it could just be Mrs Hastings. Her husband had an affair with the neighbour and Spencer isn'tnt actually her daughter. Veronica could have known that Mary was beginning to take an interest in being closer to Spencer so could have started the AD front to put a stop to Mary blabbing her secret to Spencer and the two of them forming a relationship. Now, while AD didn't stop Mary from opening her mouth, we are yet to see how their relationship pans out, and how Spencer takes the news.

My colleague also suggested that, after reading the books, the show could follow suit in the sense that Marlene could reveal that Alison has a secret evil twin who is AD. I'd be quite disappointed if they bring in a new character so late in the show - I feel it would create more questions than it would answer in the closing finale.

Another possibility that was discussed was that after Alison suffered the blow to the head from the shovel, she went into a coma and the past seven seasons were her imagination. Can you picture it? The second to last episode shows Alison waking up from the coma in hospital and then the last episode is based on her explaining her life through the coma.

Of course, there are plenty of theories buzzing around the internet. For instance, I've heard two theories based on twin conspiracies. However, many of the outlooks I've stumbled across sound like logical expectations of what we could be in store for upon the arrival of the finale. But we shall have to wait a while for the truth to unfold.

This post was actually pretty fun to write. I actually lost track of time completely! What are your thoughts on the upcoming finale of Pretty Little Liars? Are you rooting for any particular theory shared online to be the final outcome?

Charlotte.
