Summer Bank Holiday Weekending
With this being the last bank holiday weekend until the Christmas period, I've definitely made the most of having the extra day.
Friday.
While technically not apart of the bank holiday weekend, the weekend starts at 5 on Fridays! After work, I headed round to Chloe's bearing pizza. We played fetch with her doggies and had a cuddle with them before watching some things on Netflix.
I started house sitting that evening so headed straight there from Chloe's. I'm also looking after the cutest little kittens while I'm there. They love to play and explore. Unfortunately, they're at the age where they want to start venturing outside so there's going to be the battle of sneaking out in the mornings without them following me.
Saturday.
James and I started our day fairly quickly compared to usual. My mum and step dad came round with my stepdad's grandchildren to see the kittens at half 9. They only came for a flying visit as they had plans and we needed to head into town.
We were in town by half 10 and spent two hours shopping. We briefly stopped for a milkshake about 45 minutes to an hour in. James needed new shoes for work and ended up leaving with a new top and some toiletries. I needed to return some clothes and replace my iPad and ended up leaving with my replacement iPad, some new jeans and some toiletries.
By 12:30 when we'd finished, we were both boiling because lovely weather and it felt like the shops had their heating on slightly. James went off to lunch with his friends while I popped home to freshen up before work. James and I went to mine for dinner with my Gran.
Sunday.
We didn't have as early a start as we did on Saturday. However, we took a drive down to Earlswood so I could get some bits and bobs for Oscar. We also had a look around at the other bits they had. I had so much joy in the candle section. There's so many nice smells! And of course, we had a look at the animal section. I got Oscar from there last year and I can't believe that he's one and a half already!
I dropped James home around lunchtime and headed down to the gym. After only spending just over an hour there, I headed back to mine to have a good sort through of all of my possessions. I've felt like I've hoarded a lot over the years and now I'm left with a lot of clutter. With me currently living with my gran and it only being temporary until I'm back on my feet, I wanted to get rid of anything I don't use often and won't be using. So far, I only managed to sort through my old clothes, and even then I need to finish that off as it's currently in three different piles; to sell, clothes bank/charity shop and the not sure pile,
My phone hasn't been working as it should recently so James has given me his old phone. He spent the majority of the evening sorting out our phones while I made some more rocky road cookies. I got 20 from that batch and once again they turned out very well.
Monday.
Monday was a very quiet day. It was my step sister's birthday so I her, her kids, my mum and step dad to say Happy Birthday while James got some bits done around the house in the morning.
James and I decided to go for lunch at the Pony Inn and we were massively full after! I had breaded mushrooms followed by salt and pepper chicken. We opted out of having dessert as we couldn't managed anymore and had a chocolate trifle waiting at home.
After lunch, we picked up my Gran and took her to see the kitten I'm looking after. As Mother Nature treated us to some sunshine, I dropped my Gran home before heading down to the beach for a swim with Sj. The water was surprisingly warm compared to what we were both expecting, although there was a slight shock getting in. Sj also came back to see the kittens before I dropped him home.
The rest of the evening was spent in front of the telly watching Friends and eating with James. Of course, the cats got some attention. I must say, Monday evening was the most civilised I've seen the, both together! They've been fighting all weekend so far!
I've literally had such a productive weekend, although I still feel like I need more time to finish a few bits off.
