60 Things To Do In 2015: Have a Horror Movie Marathon
This was one I had to do on my own as all of my friends don't like horror movies. There was one time that I watched a not-so-scary horror movie with Chloe, Rosie and Tasmin which had the three of them screaming the whole way through. Now that, that was hilarious!
Anyway, back to the run through of my Horror Movie Marathon. To kick it off, I rummaged around in the kitchen to see what we had in the way of snacks. We had an M&S Yule Log (my all time favourite Christmas food), Festive Friends (second favourite Christmas food) and leftover Celebrations and Quality Streets. You can't have a movie marathon without the essentials!
First movie of choice was Would You Rather. It has a fairly high rating on Netflix and was released back in 2013. The first 5 minutes of the movie were spent trying to figure out where I recognised the first girl who appeared from. Turns out she's the girl who plays Chloe in Pitch Perfect.
After half an hour of allowing myself to get distracted by anything and everything, I switched to another movie. It's not that Would You Rather was so terrifying that I couldn't take anymore, it was the fact that nothing interesting was happening. It wasn't scary - it was more, people causing harm and pain to each other in order to win high sums of money for a better future.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose was second on the cards. Of this choice and my first choice, this definitely the better option. The horror side of the movie was shown through people telling their stories and version of event from the stand during the trail of the death caused after the exorcism of Emily Rose. Hence the title of the film.
Next movie of choice was The Purge. Although it's another one that wasn't really scary, the masks that those people wear who are waiting outside the house are pretty damn creepy! Especially with the clothes they wear as well. If I p opened my door to find someone dressed like that with the mask as well then I think I'd probably cry for a month!
The Conjuring was the final movie to my marathon. I actually went to the cinema to watch it when it first came out but couldn't remember what happened. I must say, I find this movie sits perfectly in the stereotype of your typical horror movie - you know the ones, where the main character is stupid enough to follow the weird noises or strange shadows down the dark alleyway or hallway only find that they should have listened to you when you screamed and shouted at them not to because the bad guy would have only ended up behind them with a knife or something. Yeah, all these people in the movies would survive if only they had listened to me! Haha.
Horror movies don't seem to work on me, it's like they have the opposite effect on me as more often than not I find them more funny than scary. For instance, there was one movie (the name I cannot remember) with a clown at a kids party and the clown gets stabbed in the face and drops a whole jelly on the floor. The jelly didn't break at all, instead it just wobbled and jiggled and bounced all over the place which then had me in fits of tears and laughter for a good half an hour!
Charlotte.
