On The Horizon #12

I never mean to leave these posts so few and far apart. #11 of this series was back in August! Oops. However, with the festive period on the horizon, what better time to share one of these posts.

Birthdays. During the month of December, Rosie and I will both be turning 21, only 20 days a apart from one another. While I don't currently know how we'll be celebrating Rosie's birthday, I do have her present (or at least half of her present - I still haven't decided on another idea) ready. As for my birthday, I pretty much have a whole shebang planned and I am super excited!

Cocktail Making. As part of my birthday celebrations, I've organised for my friends and I (and James and my step sisters) to go cocktail making. Unfortunately, not all of my friends can make it to the cocktail making but we'll all be going for a few drinks beforehand, so at least I'll still get to celebrate with everyone throughout the course of the day. I also plan to spend the morning and lunchtime with my family.

Baking. James and I are going to attempt to bake a cake for my birthday. The Eat Like A Gilmore cookbook I have has a recipe for the cake that was made for Rory's 21st, however it is a coffee flavoured cake which wouldn't be to my liking. We'll be going for the chocolate smores cake from the same cookbook. If all goes wrong, we'll go for the backup option of Oreo cupcakes. Oreo cupcakes are also something we'll probably make nearer to Christmas for James' sister.

Haircut. As an early birthday treat, I'm treating myself to a haircut. More so because I haven't actually had it cut since my last birthday. I kind of miss having my super long hair but also love having my hair shorter. At the moment, it's at a slightly awkward length in the middle and I feel that a haircut will get it back to looking healthy again.

Work Christmas Outings. With working two jobs, I'll be going on two work Christmas celebrations. The first will be an evening meal on the day before my birthday and the second will be a lunchtime and all afternoon/evening event a week later. My full time job has been very full on with organising Christmas events during December so I'm feeling pretty festive already this year.

Holidays. Sadly, I don't currently have any holidays booked, however James and I will be booking our holidays for 2018 over the next month or so. I have a post coming soon based on our holiday choices for next year.

Cinema trip. I went to the cinema for the first time in months a couple of weeks ago with Chloe to see A Bad Mom's Christmas (completely brilliant and hilarious! Probably the best movie I've seen in the longest time!)and we'll be going again around Christmas. Next movie of choice: Pitch Perfect 3. Chloe and I will be roping Tasmin and Rosie into coming along with us to see it. With the third and final movie on it's way, a Pitch Perfect Movie Marathon will of course be in order.

Christmas Day. I still love Christmas, maybe not quite so much as birthdays, but I still love it. I love the fact that you get to see all of your family, without anything else 'coming up'. For me, Christmas isn't Christmas unless there's an M&S Chocolate Yule Log involved. This year, I'm at my step sister's for lunch then spending the evening with James.

New Years Eve celebrations. Chloe and I have our annual New Year traditions of spending New Years Eve on the sofa with a take out, while we play Mario Kart, and watch shows on Netflix. This won't be any different.

December is always a pretty busy month. I like that as I feel ever so slightly more productive than usual.
