60 Things To Do In 2015: Go to a yoga class
I know this post is pretty late, considering I attended my first ever yoga class on Monday.
My mum and I were the first two to arrive, so we left our shoes outside and then helped the instructor (my colleague) to set up. This didn't take long at all as the mats and blocks were already in the room. You can't take any belongings into the room as it disturbs the peaceful atmosphere, so all shoes, bags, coats, phones and anything you may want to take with you outside of the doors.
It was suggested that blocks were used to help give you the correct posture, although they weren't necessary. I choose not to use any as I found it rather uncomfortable. Eventually, everyone arrived and we began with the class.
The 'warm up' didn't include any music. You had to sit cross-legged with the backs of your hands on your knees, with your fore finger and thumb making an 'o' while you focused on your breathing. After the warm up, some relaxing music was turned on while the rest of the class focused mainly on the warrior pose.
I must say, although yoga is meant to relax you, it made me feel pretty uncomfortable and achy. All I wanted to do was click every bone in my body that would click, but didn't want to be the noisey person at the back who disturbed everyone!
Honestly, I can't say I'll be rushing back to yoga any time soon, but I won't rule it out completely. I'm glad I tried it but I'm definitely the type of person who needs to be jumping around and pushing myself further to feel satisfied with a workout.
